Pervitin! Brand name for methamphetamine, which was invented in Germany in the 1920s (after the invention of amphetamines, also in Germany in 1887) and distributed first to medical students and later, to great effects, to German soldiers. It became so common, that nicknames of meth included “pilot’s salt” and “tank chocolate”. I highly recommend reading Blitzed by Norman Ohler for more information on drugs and the Third Reich!
