Happy Hansiversary!
Ten years ago today, I launched HANS VOGEL IS DEAD as a webcomic on a comic collective website called The Silent Chord with a couple other cartoonists. I was the latecomer to the group, and was extremely nervous about going in with a bunch of other people who had been updating their webcomics for about a year or so at that point, but I was excited to get this story out there after five years of research and development. I had just moved home from Austria and wasn’t having any luck with job applications or moving out of my parents’ house, and in what was otherwise a really uncertain point in my life, this felt real and big. It’s wild to look back on where I am today, ten years later, but I know I couldn’t be here if I hadn’t started this weird little story, and I’m so lucky to get to share it with all of you.
