Anyone in the UK this weekend? Come see me at ThoughtBubble! I’ll be in Bubbleboy Hall at table 135b 🙂

The song in today’s page is Kommt ein Vogel geflogen, a folksong common in Germany and Austria. The funky spelling is because the singer has a strong Mühlviertlerisch dialect, specific to the Mühlviertl region of Upper Austria (where I was!). The full lyrics translate roughly to this:

A bird flew over to me
and landed upon my foot:
It had a letter in its beak
a greeting from my mother

Lovely bird fly on
Take my reply with a kiss
I cannot go with you
because I must remain here

And the bird flew on
Over mountains and valley
and the children in the windows
looked at him sadly
